On Day 10 of the Camino Portugués Coastal, I walked from Cruces to Santiago de Compostela, completing this leg of the pilgrimage. The route offered quiet morning roads, gentle slopes, and reflective solitude before the awe-inspiring arrival at the cathedral. I collected my Compostela and rested, reflecting on ten days of walking through Portugal and Galicia’s coastal landscapes.

On Day 9 of the Camino Portugués Coastal, I walked from Caldas de Reis to Cruces, navigating sun, sudden showers, and flooded streets. This stage offered a mix of forests, vineyards, and quaint villages, ending at a quiet albergue where I reflected on the challenges and small joys of the Camino.

Despite the challenges, the stage offered stunning ocean views, the satisfaction of reaching a major city, and a sense of accomplishment for Sujin on her final day of the Camino.

A short but memorable day—crossing from Portugal to Spain by boat! Between grey skies, rain-soaked cobblestones, and the thrill of the river crossing, the day carried that perfect mix of effort and adventure. We took the coastal route to A Guarda, ending the evening with seafood, warmth, and the sound of rain outside.

The route from Amorosa to Vila Praia de Âncora passed through quiet inland towns before returning to the coast. Despite the challenges, we ended the day in comfort—alone in a peaceful guesthouse, grateful for warmth, space, and rest.

Accommodation options were scarce on this stage, so Sujin and I pushed farther than planned—over 37 kilometres from Póvoa de Varzim to Amorosa. The route shifted inland before returning to the ocean, where stretches of beach walking tested our endurance. It was a long, quiet, and deeply satisfying day on the Camino Portugués Coastal.

After finishing my Camino Francés, I wasn’t ready to stop walking. Reuniting with a friend from the trail, we decided to tackle a new challenge—walking the Portuguese Coastal Route from Porto to Vigo. Our first day stretched nearly 40 kilometres along the Atlantic, filled with boardwalks, seaside views, and the freedom of beginning again.

The final stage of the Camino Finisterre brought sunshine, ocean views, and a deep sense of completion. After receiving my Finisterrana certificate in town, I walked to Cape Finisterre’s lighthouse and the Kilometre Zero marker—the symbolic “end of the world.”

After receiving my Compostela certificate in Santiago, I began walking toward the “end of the world.” The trail to Negreira was peaceful and lightly traveled, a sharp contrast to the crowded final stages before Santiago. Despite the distance, the day felt meditative—an entirely new chapter of the Camino experience.

The final walk from Lavacolla to Santiago was a mix of excitement, reflection, and anticipation. Arriving at the cathedral, receiving the Compostela, and capturing the moment with photos brought overwhelming joy — a perfect conclusion to the Camino Francés.

From Arzúa to Lavacolla, rain and flooded paths tested our endurance, but arriving just 10 km from Santiago felt like a reward. Long showers, drying shoes, and laundry offered comfort and restored energy for the final stage of the Camino.

From Palas de Rei to Arzúa, rainy Galicia greeted us with bustling towns, markets, and the aroma of boiling octopus in Melide. Despite soaked shoes, the warmth of the municipal albergue and good food made for a satisfying day on the Camino.

The trail to Palas de Rei was bustling with pilgrims, winding through wet forests and slippery descents. After a tricky search for beds and a refreshing shower, I finally got my first Camino wax stamp — a small but joyful milestone on the journey.
