Camino Francés - Day 10: Nájera to Grañón
Last night, my Camino family and I decided to leave early for Grañón to stay at the donativo we had heard great things about. Since reservations weren’t possible, we needed to arrive early to secure a spot, so we set off at 6 AM under a sky full of stars. We took a moment to admire them, and I even tried some star photography. The photos turned out great!
The first part of the hike was beautiful, but the second half was tough due to the heat. With no shade on the open dirt trail, I did not handle the heat well. We finally reached Grañón around 12:45 PM, relieved to find some shade.
When we checked in, the main sleeping area was full, so they opened a new one. They explained the house rules: donate what you can to stay, help cook and clean, follow quiet hours, and prayer time. It was my first donativo stay, and I really enjoyed preparing dinner and sharing the experience with everyone.
