Mount Kobotoke-Shiroyama, Kanagawa, Japan
Today was a travel day, but I still squeezed in a hike. I’d heard about Mt. Takao (599m) but hadn’t visited before, so since I was heading that way, I decided to go. There are several trails and even a cable car to the top. Looking at the trail map, I chose to hike up Trail 6 and come down Trail 4.
Trail 6 was said to be challenging, but it wasn’t too bad. I had to walk through a stream at one point, but the water was low. I reached the top quickly and still had energy, so I kept going toward Mt. Kobotoke-Shiroyama (670m). The trail there was well-maintained with stairs and some great Mt. Fuji views along the way.
At the top of Mt. Kobotoke-Shiroyama, there was a big rest area with shops and toilets (basic ones), plus other trail options if I wanted to keep going. I decided to head back for now but plan to return and explore more next time.
On the way down, I followed Trail 4, then switched to Trail 2, and finally a bit of Trail 1. I ended up at a waterfall that used to be a spot for spiritual practice. It’s closed off now, but you can still see it from behind a gate. After that, I made it back to the train station and continued on to my accommodation.
